The look

* Strong eyes and soft lips are the key to this eye-popping face. Apply brown or bronze shadows on lids and around lashline, then use a black pencil to subtly fill in lower lashline and go thicker on top. Curl lashes and apply mascara. Top lips with nude gloss. “The heavier the eye, the more nude the lip [should be],” says Beauty.com makeup artist Tina Turnbow.

Yes, You Can wear heavy liner.

For a less extreme look, forget the cat-eye tail and end liner at the eye’s outer corner.

IF YOU’RE FEELING …

Sultry

Luscious berry lips are the perfect splash of color to add drama to darker, richer hues. The look is just as sexy with jeans and sweaters as it is with little black dresses

The look

* Dramatic lips set off by lustrous skin add up to this subtly sexy face. Start by defining lips–line and fill in with “a nice, sheer berry liner,” says makeup artist Tina Turnbow. Then follow with rich berry gloss. Make the rest of the face a perfect backdrop for strong lips with “light, shimmery” shadows on lids, curled lashes topped with mascara, and barely-there blush for “skin that really glows.”

Yes, You Can pull off fall’s sexiest lip color.

“If it’s a sheer stain, you can get away with almost any shade,” says Turnbow. With more opaque lip colors, fair-skinned women should try pink-based berry hues; darker complexions can use burgundy tones.

The look

* Radiant skin set off by subtly defined features is the goal; you want your face to look nude, only better. Use tinted moisturizer under eyes, around the nose and on blemishes to even skin tone. Follow with natural-looking blush or powder to add slight shimmer and luster to skin. Apply understated shadows and mascara to make your eyes pop, and choose gloss that pumps up your own lip color.

Yes, You Can find a (super) natural lip shade.

Candy pink is perfect on fair skin like Bosworth’s. If you have yellow-based skin, choose a warmer, berry pink.

* Get the look of glowing skin:

Illuminating foundation reflects light, and cream-based shadows add subtle shimmer.

IF YOU’RE FEELING …

Classic

Choose fall’s favorite makeup shade–brown–to complement everything from menswear to plaid

The look

* Wearing warm, rich shades of brown all over the face is one of fall’s most chic makeup trends–just don’t wear the same brown everywhere. Choose shadows with a cinnamon or gold tone; these “are always pretty on eyes,” says Turnbow. Blend shadow all over the lid and use dark brown liner close to the lashline, then add mascara. Highlight cheeks using terra-cotta or peachy browns with a hint of shimmer to keep blush from being “too flat.”

Yes, You Can find the right brown.

If you have fair skin, choose pinkish or taupe-y browns; on darker skin, go for richer, chocolate-inspired shades.

* Wear brown on lips.

Look for peach- or pink-based browns with a bit of shine.
